Starting my own workshop was always the dream.
Today, that dream is Natural Edge Joinery.
We wanted to give it a go, share the skills we'd built over the years, and go the extra mile for our clients' ideas, without limitations.We wanted to give it a go, share the skills we'd built over the years, and go the extra mile for our clients' ideas, without limitations.
This was never just about cabinets, it's about building something of our own, our way.
Fifteen-odd years of joinery took me from high-end Wellington apartments to custom kitchens across Manawatū and Wairarapa, before Natural Edge Joinery opened its doors in September 2023.
What fifteen years in the trade taught me is simple: trends fade, how you actually use your kitchen doesn't.
The joke stopped being a joke somewhere along the way. Stacey and I used to laugh about running our own workshop one day, kids causing chaos in the background.
These days that's just Tuesday...a real workshop in Hastings, Hawke’s Bay, and Scout (four) and Josh (one) genuinely under our feet while we build it. It's not just clients living with the result, it's us too.
Stacey is a graphic designer by trade, and she's behind all our marketing, social media and branding here at Natural Edge, keeping us looking sharp and everyone up to date with the latest projects we've been working on.
We're a growing team based in our Hastings workshop and office, and every job gets the same level of care whether it's your first conversation with us or the final toekick going in.
We're based in Hastings, but take on jobs right across Hawke's Bay - from Napier to Havelock North, Bay View to Central Hawke’s Bay and everywhere in between.
We build every job on Blum hardware, backed by a lifetime warranty, because a drawer that looks good on install day means nothing if it's sticking in ten years.

From concept to completion,
this is our 6 step process..

First things first, we come to you. We measure up, walk the space, and get a proper feel for how you actually live in it, day to day, not just how it looks on paper.
We'll talk numbers early too, budget, materials, what's realistic, so there's no guessing later on.

Love entertaining? Need more storage? Dreaming of a scullery or tower pantry? This is where we talk it all through, layout, appliances, and a flow between your sink, stove, fridge and prep area that actually works for you.
We bring a full range of colour and material samples along too, and you're welcome to keep them for a while to decide. Most clients arrive with a Pinterest board or just a general vibe, and that's exactly where we start turning it into something real.

This is where it all starts taking shape. We put together a full 3D render so you can actually see your new space before manufacturing starts, alongside a detailed quote, usually back to you within three days.

Once the quote's signed off and the deposit's been received, we get into it. Everything's built right here in our Hastings workshop, carcasses, panels, doors, the lot, with Blum hardware fitted throughout for the soft-close and the lifetime warranty that comes with it.

Our team handles the install on site, usually two to three days depending on size and scope. We coordinate with your other trades too, builders, electricians, plumbers, so everything lines up without you having to chase anyone.

Once installation is complete, we do a final check to make sure everything's exactly as it should be. Then we check back in once you've had a bit of time to live in it, because that's really when you'll know how it feels.
